The ability of psHEALTH to harness the power of the Cloud and mobile technology to deliver highly customised, flexible solutions is attracting attention from Gartner, Forrester and IDC. In its report of July 24 2012, Gartner again points out how psHEALTH and others have really utilised the Cloud and delivered powerful Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
‘Our SaaS delivery model is attracting a lot of attention,’ says Ingolv Urnes of psHEALTH. ‘We help our clients leverage technology. The focus is on delivering highly tailored solutions that provide on-going flexibility as our clients’ services evolve. Historically IT systems tend to hold organisations back and restrict process improvement. Our focus is very much on systems being inherently designed for change,’ says Ingolv.
The recent attention from these respected technology analysts centres around three core themes: Cloud, mobile accessibility and flexibility.
Leveraging the Cloud
The Cloud is powering psHEALTH. This means mid-sized projects can be delivered quickly, cost-effectively and securely. ‘As discussed by Gartner,’ says Abhishek Agrawal, Technical Director and co-founder of psHEALTH, ‘we leverage the Cloud and are therefore able to offer secure, world-class services without the need to invest upfront in hardware. When we started nearly five years ago, IT directors were interested in the Cloud, but concerned about security. These days, most of them appreciate that billions of pounds have gone, and continue to go, into security. The Cloud has so much momentum and is probably in the process of overtaking traditional solutions in terms of security.’
Access via Mobile, Tablet or PC
The ability to work seamlessly across mobiles, tablets and the PC is becoming paramount. ‘psHEALTH combine Cloud and mobile to deliver tailored solutions very quickly,’ said Connie Moore of Forrester Research at the Appian World conference in Washington in April 2012. Explains Abhishek: ‘The gains in patient safety and productivity are significant. For example, the nurse in the field can easily pull up a patient’s record to review for example drug allergies. He or she can also make notes, take a photo or record a voice memo and all the data can be instantaneously available. The next step will be patients engaging directly with their health provider. And we are already delivering solutions where the patient completes questionnaires or uses bi-directional SMS for communication with nurses.’
Flexibility, Flexibility… Flexibility
psHEALTH solutions are delivered on a BPM (business process management) platform using building blocks. ‘This means that we can not only tailor the initial solution to our clients’ exact requirements – for example a COPD care path,’ says Ingolv.
‘But also that the client retains on-going flexibility. Nothing is perfect on Day One, but a solution can be made near perfect over time by incorporating lessons learned.’
