The research indicates that pharma companies are moving from selling drugs to delivering health outcomes.  The primary motivation driving service innovation and healthcare collaboration is the defensive of existing drug revenue streams.   The data clearly shows that pharma strategy is shifting and that investment within service innovation is the future.
Reablement has moved to the top of the homecare agenda driven by evidence of significant cost savings.  It poses a serious challenge to incumbent providers AND provides a major opportunity for both incumbents and new private and third sector providers.  It requires new processes and new technology solutions.
The world is changing.  The combination of a tough economic environment, increasing competition and a focus on outcomes will accelerate the need for process improvements.  We recognise that healthcare processes are complex and sometimes a matter of life or death; however, we argue that it is precisely for this reason that the potential of BPM is so significant in healthcare.

Claims Management Magazine examines how Chartis Medical & Rehabilitation (formerly AIG) implemented the psHEALTH developed case management system, Symbio-Sys.
 
psHEALTH surveyed health and social care providers to establish their views as to the current state of the industy and the likely influence of technological advances.
 
Chartis’s new case management system, Symbio-Sys, helped successfully secure a large rehabilitation contract. Developing a system for all their products and getting rid of the paper processes were critical. With greater transparency, real-time analytics and SLA tracking, Chartis is achieving significant productivity gains and is on track to realise a 3:1 return on investment.
